I have to do a research project on a movie pertaining to American History...any ideas of movies?

i have to research the validity of the movie and compare it to what actually happened in history. Although to me this sounds like something on the easy side, i cant seem to think of movies about American history. i would like to stray from war movies though because that would be a lot of research

thank you!I have to do a research project on a movie pertaining to American History...any ideas of movies?Try star wars. All the scenes with ewoks are pretty accurateI have to do a research project on a movie pertaining to American History...any ideas of movies?
there is a movie on umm... the Alamo or remember the alamo idk what is is called but, the directer basically hired the actors that looked like the people and they shot the movie in the same place that the Alamo took place it is the best movie for that war thing it is almost completely accurate and would be really easy. i found studying this topic really cool. there is like a million and one movies on like black history and you would probably know a lot of facts on it already, there is also a movie called double jeopardy which is basically about the 5th or 6th amendment on the bill of rights, it is not really history but it teaches you about the amendment.I have to do a research project on a movie pertaining to American History...any ideas of movies?A few years ago there was a movie that came out about Amelia Earhart. That might be of interest for you. I would also think about Titanic, however the movie was seriously dramatized. There is a lot of historical facts about the sinking, but it may be difficult to conpaire and contrast. You said that you would like to stay away from war movies, but Perl Harbor might be fairly easy because it was based on only a few events rather than theentirer war. If early American history interest you, there are several movies based on Louis and Clark. Hope this is helpful to you.
Movie: Root

How was the West was won

2. Gettysburg

The classic Civil War movie detailing arguably the most important battle of American History. This fantastic movie is based on the even better novel, "The Killer Angels" by Michael Shaara.

6. Hamburger Hill

A true story of the 101st Airborne's fight to gain a hill in Vietnam. This movie is considered to be one of the best movies about the war in Vietnam.

7. Tora! Tora! Tora!

A classic World War II movie focusing on the war in the Pacific. It is unique in that it shows both perspectives (Japanese and American) of the war.I have to do a research project on a movie pertaining to American History...any ideas of movies? The Duchess is an AWESOME movie! Not only will you thoroughly enjoy this movie, but it is perfect for your project. After watching the movie, I looked-up the individuals portrayed in the movie and not only were they very real people, but the movie was closer to the truth than I ever thought it would be. At the same time, I'm sure you will find happenings in the movie that did not take place in history.I have to do a research project on a movie pertaining to American History...any ideas of movies?

Roots - history of slaves coming to America and their fight for freedom. It is an amazing movie. My kids %26amp; I watched it one year in our homeschool.

North %26amp; South - history of the civil war

Little House on the Prairie movie - the one that led to the tv show or a remake that aired a few years ago

Diary of Anne Frank - about a young girl %26amp; her family hiding from the Germans

One of the man Helen Keller movies about her life.I have to do a research project on a movie pertaining to American History...any ideas of movies?
the patriot is a really good movie about the revolutionary war. It may require some research but the movie does a really good job of explaining exactly what is going on. I am usually not one to like historical movies, but I thought this one was very full of action and exciting. Even if you do not choose to do your project on this, I suggest this movie even for enjoyment. I also think it may be easier to write a paper on it because there are so many big events that happen instead of very few to write about.

mine?

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

While the Civil War rages between the Union and the Confederacy, three men -- a quiet loner (Clint Eastwood), a ruthless hit man and a Mexican bandit -- comb the American Southwest in search of a strongbox containing $200,000 in stolen gold. In his third classic spaghetti Western with Eastwood, director Sergio Leone continues to shake up the genre with stylish photography, a hefty dose of cynicism and an instantly recognizable score.
Try the movie MalcomX

it's a good movie (might be a little offensive if you're racist) but it's not a very long movie and has lots of simple and good details

Had to watch it my Jr. year of high school in American History class and do a 2 page report on it, so I know it has great details, I did a 10 page report on it and could've done more it had lots of good and juicy details
"1776" could be fun. It's a movie of the musical about the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

"The Birth of a Nation" is a bit more... history project worthy... It's dated, but it was a huge marker in the history of not only American film, but film world wide.
I'm not sure if this has already been suggested but I would highly recommend the movie milk. Its an excellent movie and deals with some big issues in america's history that still run through to today. wether or not you support what its about you have to recognize that it did have an impact. I would suggest watching it even if you don't chose it for your report. good luck!
"Tuskegee Airmen" - This isn't a war movie per-se, but a PBS show about a particular point of military history. Also, "Mutiny" another more tragic story along the same lines...Hope that helps...
Do the American Girl movie Molly. It is pretty good. Haha it would be very easy to compare. Any of the american girl movies would be easy. I personally like the Kit Kitteredge one from the great depression. All american girl movies are based on historical events. Here is the website you need to go to for more information: www.americangirl.com have fun!
forest gump! what a classic. %26lt;3 this movie. in cause u havent heard of it, its about this guy forest whose a little slow but he sees lots of important parts of american history like veitnam and segrigation, u could talk about lots of things that arent wars and since theres a lot u can just write a litle bit about it all. really good movie, it makes me cry everytime but its worth it :)
There's been plenty of movies about The Alamo.

Any movie about Billy The Kid ( there is "The Left Handed Gun" starring Paul Newman ) would make for a very interesting project because there was a old fellow named Brushy Bill Roberts who many believe really was Billy The Kid:

I had a similar project when I was in school and I DIDN'T WANT TO DO it on any wars so I did it on The Buddy Holly Story.. The Day the Music Died. My teacher was blown away with my report and it was the funnest thing I ever did in school. I really learned so much about the history of music in the USA.
i know you didn't want a war movie but PLATOON is an american classic. its a vietnam one and is very realistic and full of emotion just as the war was in fact. cant go wrong with this one. every video rental store or netflix is guaranteed to have this one.
Birth of a Nation

It's a really racist movie from 1915 about reconstruction and the "new south"

you could definitely find tons of discrepancies between the ways the KKK is depicted and the real stuff that went on between whites and blacks
The Crucible (1996)

The Last of the Mohicans (1992)

1492 - Conquest of Paradise

Gettysburg

Gone with the Wind (1939)

The uncut version of

'Once upon a time in America'

It is an accurate portrayal without

october sky..... its a good movie pertaining to a couple of high school student who become intrigued with rockets and how they work. its really a good movie as well as a great importance in history as it is a part of the space race.

Civil War...Gone With The Wind

D-Day Invasion..The Longest Day

Little House on the Prairie.....settlers going West

Apollo 13--space

Roots...slave trade

Amistad- slave revolt

Grapes of Wrath--dust bowl during the depression with migrants moving west
You could do a lot worse than "Gone With The Wind." It covers the Civil War very well and just happens to be the most popular movie ever made so you'll find a lot of info about it.
The Godfather parts 1 %26amp; 2

Roots ( actually a TV miniseries from 1977) very long but very good.

Dances with Wolves

Boyz in da Hood
American history X. American Gangster, Secretariat, the forth kind. These are movies that you actually enjoy watching and are a variety of subjects
Glory

Gettysburg

The Patriot

--

The Patriot is the most unrealistic. Gettysbrug and Glory are a bit more-so and would be hard to make a comparison with history because their differences are not so obvious.
Titanic. :) you can compare it to the newsest discovery... titanicdidn't mistakenly hittheiceburg out of nowere... the captian freaked out and steeref in the wrong direction
Easiest would be Forrest Gump. Covers thirty important years and only one major war.
