Do you know of any that I could use? thank you. What movies relate to American history, but are also entertaining?Apocalypse Now (Vietnam, kinda long but worth it), MASH (Korea/Vietnam), Rambo I or II or both (Vietnam/Regan 80's), Back to the Future (50's), Easy Rider (60's counterculture), American Graffiti (50's), Platoon (Vietnam), All the President's Men (Watergate), The Grapes of Wrath (Great Depression), The Crucible (Salem Witch Trials), High Noon and the Unforgiven (Wild West)What movies relate to American history, but are also entertaining?

I'm a Civil War buff, so I'll recommend:

Glory

Gone with the Wind

The Red Badge of Courage

Gettysburg

Gods and Generals

Also, the musical 1776 is a lot of fun. The miniseries Roots would be good, too.
There are loads of movies in a variety of genres that may suit this purpose. You may want a run and gun war movie like patton, we were soldiers, or the green berets. There are also many dramas like failsafe, or you may want a comedy like the mouse that roared or dr. strangelove.
Remember there are three sides to every story theres, yours and the truth. These movies are entertaining pertaining to American history, The Patriot, Patton, Northwest Passage(Lewis and Clark expedition, and a little brutal). and if you can find it Johnny Tremaine, a young boy that was a credit to our country, and Amistad.
