Well if your not into the whole vampire thing, which was what I was about to suggest let me think..
At 12 years old I was really into reading the Fear Street books by R.L Stine and I actually still own them to this day. You may like these.
There is the babysitters club.. Sweet Valley Jr High books...
Are you there god it's me margret was a good book for me to..
A lot of times, the best way to find a book is by browsing the shelves in books a million or your local walmart, find something that speaks to you, pick it up, hold it.. read the back of it.. and if it gives you that excited feeling in your stomach that makes you think "Oh my god, I've got to get home and get my shoes off and read this RIGHT NOW!" Then you have found the book for you!
I wish you the best of luck, and there are millions of great books out there waiting to be read, I hope you find every single one of them!
Maybe the Candy Apple books by Robin Wasserman or the Dear Dumb Diary series by Jim Benton. The Internet Girls series by Lauren Myracle might also be good. Ask Me No Questions by Marina Budhos is also a good book- kind of like Does My Head Look Big In This?
I hope these work. Have fun reading. What are some good books for a 12 year old girl?

hmmm...
you said "girly" books. this leads me to believe that maybe you'd like books by cathy hopkins. i loved her books when i was 13. i suggest the "mates, dates..." series by her (the first book is "mates, dates, and inflatable bras") or the "truth or dare" series which is also by her (the first book is "white lies and bold faced truths")
you may also be interested in kit pearson. i quite enjoyed everything she's written.
Personally I've enjoyed these books. We appear to have similar interest

Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen
From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg
Superfudge by Judy Blume. [the fudge series is great!]
And in general, look for a book with a newbery medal on the cover.
