Asian/ American movies comparison?
OK so there's been a couple of asian movies that has been remade into american (version) movies. For anyone who has seen both - which one do you think is better? the asian version or american version? and why?
Ringu - The Ring
Ringu 2 - The Ring 2
Ju-On - The Grudge
Gin gwai - The Eye
Honogurai mizu no soko kara - Dark Water
Shutter (Thai version) - Shutter (American version) - releasing March 21, 2008.
Infernal Affairs - The Departed
Il Mare - The Lake House
Nankyoku Monogatari (South Pole Story) - Eight Below or Antarctica
Let me know what you think! Thanks.Asian/ American movies comparison?I almost always enjoy the Asian ver. more than the American ver. but I may be biased since I'm Japanese. %26gt;%26lt;
Ringu was one of the scariest J horror movies, although the remake was good, the Japanese version was so original.
I preferred Ju-On over The Grudge b/c it wasn't just about making you jump (like the American ver.) but I felt it went deeper.
I never really like The Eye (either ver.) but I thought there were some truly silly parts in the American ver. ; people were actually laughing in the theatre.
Shutter may be the scariest movie I've ever seen. It had everything. It was terrifying, but also heart wrenching. I doubt the American ver. can live up to it, but we'll see.
And lastly, the Korean ver of Il Mare was beautiful... maybe b/c Ji-hyeon Jeon (from My Sassy Girl) is amazing haha. Keanu Reeves is a little annoying to me %26gt;%26lt;Asian/ American movies comparison?I don't like the American versions. They are bland and watered down.
The worst American remake has to be "Shall We Dance" with J-Lo and Richard Gere who had as much chemistry as flat soda and stale bread.
They totally removed to societal dynamics in the Asian version so it was like... wow... he's an uptight business guy and he dances at night... like we don't dance here in the U.S.!Asian/ American movies comparison?---%26gt;Shutter (Thai verision vs. American Version)%26lt;---
my friend said she watched the american version of shutter...it was dull..i saw the preview and it seemed gay and dumb......i heard from other people as well that the thai version is better.......i recommend the thai verision.....it is so much better and scarier tha american remake
---%26gt;One Missed Call (jap. verision vs Am. version)%26lt;---
one of my other friend also went to watch one missed call......said that the ghost or monster was gay.....it wasn't even scary she was laughing throughout the whole movie at theaters with her brother.......i have the original one......i'm pretty sure that i nevered finished it.........let me guess thurs gonna be one missed called two and final......please if anyone is gonna watch the american one.......go to crunchyroll.com (need to be a member) and watch it thur....it is so much scarier than the american version....

City names followed by country names in American movies - why?
Why is it that Hollywood movies always have to follow a city name by the country in which it is located (i.e. 'Rome, Italy' or 'Prague, Czech Republic')? Do they honestly think people don't know that London is in England or Berlin is in Germany? I notice American city names are never followed by 'United States'. I do find it a little patronising.City names followed by country names in American movies - why?Well, there's a London, Tennessee and many 'other' towns named London in America. There's also many 'Romes' in the U.S., such as Rome, GA. Americans don't put 'United States' because WE ARE FROM THE UNITED STATES, so it' s implied that any city, unless otherwise stated, is a U.S. city. Get it? :-)
I'll also bet that if a news station in Rome, Italy was doing a story about something happening in Rome, Georgia, I bet the Italians would say Rome, Georgia, USA! Just depends on where you live.City names followed by country names in American movies - why?
You know, I never noticed that they do that.
I think it's because for some of those, we are stupid and don't know. Where on earth is Samarkand? I had to look that one up.City names followed by country names in American movies - why?In the US, many names are duplicated, so they need clarifiction.
Also, in the US (and Australia) many names are duplicated from European places, which often got their names from geographical or historical contexts.
It may have happened because settlers wanted to remind themselves of where they came from originally. Unfortunately it means that many place names do not have the same significance as they do in Europe.
Bear in mind that most US citizens haven't a clue about europe. I was asked "which part of Germany is England in?"City names followed by country names in American movies - why?
in movies, american cities are not followed by "United States" but are usually followed by the name of the state, i.e. Phoenix, ArizonaCity names followed by country names in American movies - why? There are cities in the United States that are the same as in other countries. For example, there is a Paris, Texas-- therefore they need to clarify for those who (unfortunately) could not figure out the difference on their own. The cities located within the US have their state listed after it (i.e. Chicago, IL)City names followed by country names in American movies - why?
In America, most of the places were named by people coming in. So over the years there appeared loads of places with the name name as lots of other places around the world. There are places called Paris, Cambridge, Plymouth and on and on. So if you say, for instance "Paris" to an American, it is quite possible that there will be a place of that name not far away. So he might say "oh yeah, I was there twice last week!" But then the retort would come back, "No, not the one in Texas (or wherever), Paris, France!" So they have to do that now and again.
Get a good map of America, and you will see. Good luck, and a happy new year!

Why many American movies just include White actors as if Whites just lived in a white world?
Have you guys noticed this? Well, maybe the other people don't have time or money to get into acting so that may be one of the reason.
But many of the Hollywood movies( chick flicks or kind of like about teenagers or like the wedding planner etc)..It's so funny, like everyone is white even all the neighbors and people around.
They sometimes include a few black and asians or more recently indian americans but. i see mostly white.
I do understand that in reality, Some group of white people do prefer to hang out with their own kind.. LIke also latinos hang out with their own But the way the movies make all the surrounding people white, the extras white etc.. That's weird.
No wonder foreign countries that watch American movies think all American people are white. Why many American movies just include White actors as if Whites just lived in a white world?i've noticed too, in my opinion we do live in a white world, but there are some other different kinds of people who are trying to squeeze out of that. the Celebrity world IS dominated by whites. the only time i see a black person in a movie is it has to do with some stereotype movie like dealing with drugs, going to jail, gangsters, or just simply needing somebody to die in a movie.
its getting old, i would like to see a mixture of people in a movie for ONCE!Why many American movies just include White actors as if Whites just lived in a white world?
If there's a police chief or a high school principal or a lawyer or a mayor they're always black. Why many American movies just include White actors as if Whites just lived in a white world?yh i have actully and i was wondering y thank you for explaning this
that is interesting, i never noticed. Why many American movies just include White actors as if Whites just lived in a white world?yeah, i ask that question every day when i'm watching t.v.! it's like no other race exist........... NO MATTER HOW MUCH AMERICA TRIES TO CONVINCE US THAT THINGS HAVE CHANGE, IN REALITY LITTLE HAS CHANGE! RACE WILL ALWAYS BE AN ISSUE! SAD BUT TRUEWhy many American movies just include White actors as if Whites just lived in a white world?
No were not that stupid overseas, we all laughed for weeks even our news anchors couldn't read the story when the USA, announced the American Creation Museum.
Especially when we only seen white mannequins of biblical characters used. We wondered what the hell did they put in the water that week over there in the States , lol, this must be just another only in America thing.
Well maybe it's not absolutely necessary for them to include every color on the rainbow and the mentally challenged person and the person with AIDS and the wheelchair and...
You get my point. If you had your way, there would be probably end up being a standard in the media for how many of what kind of people are where. I really wish we could just see people as people and keep the movies realistic when it comes to diversity. If a movie is unrealistic in that it has all white or all non-white cast, though, that's fine too. It's better than having a fully diverse film about the KKK. I say let the film makers make their damn movie without Michael Moore or other hard-left wingers shooting up their asses about it.
I think people are too sensitive about this stuff. Oh and if anybody got an impression that I am a racist, I am asian. Does that somehow make it better? Why many American movies just include White actors as if Whites just lived in a white world?
its racism..
too bad it exists everywhere
You know what? The other foreign countries are not dumb. We obviously know what Ethnic groups make up the American population. Why be so sensitive about it. Just watch the dang movie! If you're not happy, make one yourself. By the way, did I tell you I hv acted on stage before....
Your so right and yes I have noticed it. I'm always thinking where is everybody else? I always wonder how this effects little children who are not white? It has to be damaging at some level to their psych, it would kind of feel like being ostracized..you know? Like wow, am I the only one like me.
Good point.
because the vast majority of Americans happen to be white, especially in the 'blue states' such as Massachusetts %26amp; New York, outside of the city with the same name, where more Americans still live than anywhere else. So Hollywood naturally is going to make those movies catering to those people with the most money in the most areas, namely white folks who live up in the Northeast %26amp; upper Mid-Western states.
That's not true that movies only have white people. There are tons of movies with other races... Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Beyonce, Bernie Mac, Queen Latifa, Whoppi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr., Lucy Lui, Don Chedle, Morgan Freedmon, Jackie Chan, Chris Rock, and these are just people off the top of my head.
Obviously their are more white people in movies because there are more white actors, because the U.S. is mostly white people. It's just a matter of proportions. You're likely to see more white people in most professions, not just acting, because we have a higher population of white people overall.
On the contrary, I think Hollywood sometimes makes TOO much of a point to appeal to minorities... take the movie Guess Who, where Ashton Kutcher plays a white guy who is ostrocized by his girlfriend's family because they are all black and he is white. It's funny and all, but if you really think about it, you could NEVER switch the races.. if hollywood made a movie about a black guy being rejected by a white family, people would cry "racist"... but when its a white person being singled out, it's okay. Seems unfair to me.
i agree its racism, whites have always dominated the film industry.
White people make up most of America.
Yeah, well they have ALL BLACK SHOWS/MOVIES, that have NO whites, not even a token one. So what is your point?
to errica!...i disagree...guess who was a reverse remake of guess whos coming to dinner with sydney potier and katherine hepburn a movie about a white woman who brings her black boyfriend home for dinner unbeknownst to her parents and this movie was done in 1967 it was widely controversial but accepted as well
EDIT!!!!: ok I have to disagree with you again Errrica! people were on an entirely different plane of racism in 1967 then now think about it the 1960s were the HEIGHT of the civil rights movements...blacks were still getting sprayed by firehoses and attacked by dogs/lynched etc...there were race riots and not to mention Martin Luther king wasnt even assianated until 1968!! so dont say race was less of an issue then because thats entirely wrong...youve got it backwards
Edit 2: ok i see what youre getting at...i do agree with mellowg a lot of black movies etc dont have other races in them at all (i tend not to watch those) but at the same time tv shows like "Friends" for example was a bit ridiculous...like there were only whites 24/7 and there were only like 2 blacks on the show ever were there even other races on there???...i mean...really..in NYC?? yeah right get real...

Yes, I know the first was a drama, while the second was a comedy...still Berine Mac's dislike of his daughters choice [because of his color] was seen in a much lighter way than Spencer Tracy's in the original version.
great observation, I have thought about it too, and its funny that if you watch a show like TYler Perrys weekly show, most of the advertising is done with black actors, why?
to add to your question...how come when there is a native american indian character (like in Twilight) they go out of their way to cast a white actor and then dig to fins some native blood so they can claim it.
there are plenty of very talented native actors but hollywood refuses to cast us as anything but relics of the past. no 21st century native people in hollywood and certainly not giving a star role to one. for the next movie in the series they are looking for Filipino and asian actors to play natives. wtf?! ethnic cleansing on the silver screen too?permit practice test spongebob games online

English accents in American movies?
In most American movies, especially "historical" movies, an English accent always seems to be used when the audience can't understand a foreign language and English is used instead. For instance, everyone in the movie Troy speaks with English accents, even though many of them are American actors and England didn't exist at that time. Why don't they speak in Greek accents? Do all these movie producers figure nobody will be able to tell the difference? Or do we Americans just associate an English accent with foreign languaged? This happens in a lot of movies, so I was just curious.English accents in American movies?Well, to answer that last question first... Remember something in 1776 called the Revolutionary War? Just about all villains in movies have English accents. For example, in The Hunt for Red October, the Russians have English accents and are played by English actors. Interestingly, Sean Connery starts speaking in Russian, the camera goes out of focus and then everyone else has an English accent.
If you go back through the history of movies, there are a LOT of movies where the villains are using English accents when everyone else has an American accent. I think it is something that Hollywood adopted years ago and has continued to use throughout most of their films. It stems back to the time when the English were our enemies. Also, English is much easier to understand than almost any other language, too. At least for American audiences.
When I was in Russia in 2007, this person who I visited had a copy of The Hunt for Red October on DVD. The Russians speak Russian and the Americans also speak Russian, but with a lisp!English accents in American movies?Probably because an English "accent"would be easier to understand than English with a thick Greek accent. I kind of admire peopel that can imitate an english accent without looking ridiculous. I had to do it occasionally (for Shakespeare), and it made me more uncomfortable than alot of the others things I did on stage%26gt; Probably because I'd never met a native English person before that time. I don't know why everyonemakes such a big deal about him, course he was very prolfic in his writing. But ther are other 13 -14 cent poets who were amazing as wellEnglish accents in American movies?Well if it were true to the times, they wouldn't be speaking with Greek accents... they would be speaking Greek. And since sub-titles are out of the question they gave them English accents probably because Greek accents would sound silly and American accents in ancient Greece would be ridiculous.English accents in American movies?
Yeah, they think the every foreign accent is English.

Are American movies with families and friends being so close actually real?
I was just curious to find out if American movies are accurate when they show families and friends being so close, for example at christmas the americans go all out for it and is family really as important as portrayed in the movies.
Also is it right that when someone new moves into a neighborhood that the next door neighbour will bake cookies or a pie for them to welcome them to the street?
I was just wondering, as this really seems lovely in the movies but as we all know movies can be misleading. I would love to go to America someday, as I have always been fascinated with the country, I am just so unsure what to expect of people.
Thanks in advance. Are American movies with families and friends being so close actually real?It depends where you live. In larger cities people don't really know their neighbors and they live in smaller nuclear families.
I've noticed the midwest tends to be more rural and they have larger families they tend to be this way towards family and neighbors. However, everybody loving each other all the time is a myth. There's a lot of drama with large families and small towns where everyone knows each other. Are American movies with families and friends being so close actually real?NO ITS ALL A LIE NO FAMILYS ARE THAT CLOSE OR HAPPY IT ONE BIG FAT LIE DONT BELIEVE IT THEY JUST WANT PEOEPLS MOEY SO THEY MAKE ALL THE PERFECT FAMILY MOVIES ITS NOT TRUE DONT BELIEVE ANY OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!Are American movies with families and friends being so close actually real?my family and i are close. i cant say for everyone else. its a very extended family too, (for example my grandma's cousin and i are close, and yes this it true)

I just wanna noe that howcome sometimes its little hard for me to understand these movies, like sometimes i have to listen very carefully, i mean not often but rarely.
Is it cuz of brit accent or?
And im sure u brit guyz also watch american movies,

You probably have difficulty in following the script if the actor is using quolocial terminology. eg: rhyming slang from London or a strong Northern accent [which even I find hard to follow at times!]
As for the American films/movies, I have no trouble at all in understanding the actors/actresses.

Know any Spanish language shows, movies or games that would appeal to a male American teenager or young adult?
I think watching tv would be a great way to learn another language, but all I can find are telanovelas. I think I'll learn better if the material is entertaining.
Kinds of shows/movies/games I like:
Star Wars
Heroes
The Office
Final Fantasy
If you know how to get a hold of it too, that'd be great, but I'm generally capable of finding stuff I'm looking for online if it exists.Know any Spanish language shows, movies or games that would appeal to a male American teenager or young adult?telenovelas suck. i hate them!
it's hard to find but there's a really good tv comedy show from Spain called A铆da. i learned a lot of Spanish from it.Know any Spanish language shows, movies or games that would appeal to a male American teenager or young adult?talento de barrio is an EXCELLENT movie :)

Or any other movie you're into.
Telanovelas suck! Even for women! They are AWFUL!
Go into Imdb. Do you know how it works? Everything is hyperlinked. Start by searching Benicio del Toro, Javier Bardem, Antonio Banderas (look for his work in Spanish), Pedro Alm贸dovar, Carlos Saura.
Then, once you have found someone whose work you like, watch everything you can by them. Watch other movies that the same actors have been in.
Oh...you might want to brush up on the Civil War, the Franco years, and the effects on Modern Spain, to understand their work.auto parts stores google crome

Why are there no modern movies about The American Revolution?
Perhaps because it would inspire patriotism and give people "ideas" regarding the current administration. In socialism, you want the masses ignorant and pacified. Why are there no modern movies about The American Revolution? As far as mainstream movies go the only most recent one was The Patriot. However, it was made more for entertainment than for historical fact.
The most recent was John Adams. It is more a mini series but was AWESOME! So much so my wife bought the disc set for me. It really digs down into the political motives of our fore fathers and reasons given for fighting the British.
It isn't much into the action side of things although there is some. It really goes more into the thought processes of America's leaders back then.
I have to say though, not many socialist minded libs will like it. Much of it describes in great detail the fact that we were fighting against something then that is once again raising it's ugly head now.Why are there no modern movies about The American Revolution?
Today's audience still think that we're in Iraq because of 9/11, so they are far, far too stupid to want to see events depicted before...last week! In fact, there have been few films, other than documentaries about this crucial event in mankind's development. I was SO encouraged when HBO's series "John Adams" won critical acclaim, though few viewers.
The Patriot (2000)
Revolution (1985)
edit: Turbo, we can only pray that it comes, soon! I'm 55, and I doubt that I'll see it. The kids today? Too stupid and selfish. Why are there no modern movies about The American Revolution?Maybee because it wasn't really a very interesting event which make for good entertainment. Why are American movies so popular?
why do americans make the best movies? why can't anyone else compete with americans in the film industry? Why are American movies so popular?Asian horror is the best (especially Korean + Japanese). Why are American movies so popular?
Generous budgets. And if you're like George Lucas, you not only can do what ever you please, but you have the money, people, place, and equipment to do it.
The most popular movies have several things going for it. The action begins very soon in the movie, the acting is for the most part, done well, the photography is great as well as the special effects. If there is a moral in the movie, it's not preachy.
For many movies, the less amount of cursing and sex, compared with say, the more amount of fight and battle scenes, the movie does better than in-your-face sex and violence. Throw in a few witches, elves, jets and spaceships and you've got a blockbuster.
The question should be, why don't we see more movies from other countries? The market is there and it's huge. And not the little art house movies that make you wonder what you just watched. Bollywood, India's "version" of Hollywood has a giant film industry yet we never see anything from there. I'm sure their budgets are at least as generous for marketing overseas.
Lots of American movies are made elsewhere, so there's the awareness. And England has Pinewood Studios, a movie making special effects stage with its own credentials. Why are American movies so popular? There are plenty of world cimema films out there - most of them are much better than the usual Hollywood pap. In fact, alot of Hollywood films steal ideas from great films like Am茅lie (if you haven't seen Am茅lie, go watch it!)
Audrey Tautou is absolutely beautiful + stunning!
Go check out BBC website or the Guardian too:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/cinema/worl鈥?/a>
http://film.guardian.co.uk/
Or go to a decent DVD rental shop. Also, BBC Four usually have some good films showing.
Unfortunately, the wealthy 'Hollywood elite' have saturated the market - and for some reason alot of people like to watch these kind of films (most of which are repetetive, tedious and predictable.)
There are also other cinemas out there who show world and independent films. If you're ever in Brighton, check out Duke of York's Picturehouse - you can even buy booze or take drink in with you.
I don't think they make the best movies, they are just a big known country, have lots of money so their movies are shown more in other countries, there has been amazing films from lots of different countries but they are just not shown world wide unlike american movies. But not all american movies are made by americans, lots of directors and other people who make movies go to america to make their movies so their movie isnt really american. Why are American movies so popular?1) Lots of people speak English
2) America can put a lot of money behind marketing and distribution
3) Lots of other countries compete with America, but haven't got their kind of muscle
4) Americans make films that they know will sell - i.e. rubbish, but really slickly peresentedWhy are American movies so popular?
The vast majority of great film is made outside of America. Americans tend to have an inflated opinion about everything we do, but film is certainly something that other countries do better, at least for the most part.
american films are so popular because they make more films than the uk and they have a bigger publicity machine.also alot of the "british" movies are american financed anyway. Why are American movies so popular?

驴Why american high school movies are sooo! Fake?
I'm from Spain and I always see american movies because I like your country and I tought the girls there are beutiful, blonde, slim, etc but when I went to USA last year I saw BIG girls only but I should say american boys are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo鈥?HOTTT驴Why american high school movies are sooo! Fake?Well it does reflect a lot of our unfortunate culture... Americans are very superficial especially those who live in California or Miami.. thats where you'll find your perfect bleach blonde skinny girls. American boys are hot, yes, but assholes ;) I am not saying everyone is fake in the US but a lot are... you have to know the people too, can't always believe movies. I mean, do you have a boyfriend named Pedro who is a bullfighter and carries a red rose wherever he goes? I know thats not true! I have to say... spanish boys are hotter than american ones!!驴Why american high school movies are sooo! Fake?
cant belive everything you see in the movies my friend驴Why american high school movies are sooo! Fake?Well I don't think movies would do so well if they used only unattractive people. I think they do that in this case to get teen kids to see their films. And it depends on where you go in America whether you will see trim people or heavier people. I guess in some places the food is not so good. lol驴Why american high school movies are sooo! Fake?
Haha, lol. I used to think that american highschools were like that too, until i visited some family in New Jersey and noticed that most of the people are fat.驴Why american high school movies are sooo! Fake?LOL!

Looking for some great American movies?
Hi guys. I wanted a couple of movies that I can buy.. things that kinda explore the streets of America (but not gangsters) if that makes sense? Like Carlito's Way %26amp; Coyote Ugly. I want to move to America but cant afford it yet so I need to tease myself with the sight of it lolLooking for some great American movies?Mean Streets. It's an early film by Scorsese where basically a group of young guys just go around New York screwing around, - but it's incredibly well-done, it's really just about being young.
He's also done other films with New York as a major setting - After Hours, Bringing Out the Dead, etc, etc.
In America, which is a film about a family immigrating to America, it's just kind of a slice of life film.
I live in America, you should come here! Cities I've lived in tend to be very open to foreigners, and hey, if their is a will their is a way. Atleast get your passport, you'll be one step closer :)Looking for some great American movies?taxi driver

Do you know where I can find American movies in the Greek Language with English subtitles?!?!?
I am trying to learn Greek for the next time I visit my family, so I want to try to watch a movie that I already know, but is in the Greek language. Thanks!!!Do you know where I can find American movies in the Greek Language with English subtitles?!?!?American movies are dubbed regionally, so that American movies in Hungary typically have Hungarian, Czech, Polish, and Slovak versions along with the English. So you need to find an outlet in Greece or southeastern Europe. The movies will not play on your American DVD player, however, so you'll need to purchase a PAL format DVD player with a video converter (since European TVs have a slightly different shape). I don't have a video converter so my PAL movies from Hungary, Poland, and Ukraine are a little stretched vertically on my American TV.
LATER EDIT: Actually, I seem to recall that "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" has Greek as a language option on the US DVD (no need for a new DVD player).

Should there be more movies that celebrate the American victory of the Cold War?
It would be very hard to make a movie about the Cold War, cause their was no action, thus 'Cold'. The victory was not due to any exciting battles, but slow, very slow political decline of the East. A movie would be very boring.Should there be more movies that celebrate the American victory of the Cold War?"Celebrate the American victory of the Cold War"?
Would that be the Cold War "victory" which has seen
*North Korea's development of nuclear weapons
*China's growth into a powerhouse state
*Russia's re-emergence as a threat to Georgia and Poland
*America's rapid decline as a world power
Do tell!

I feel uncomfortable and get very mad when my BF watches movies like american pie cause all the girl nudity..?
I know this sounds really dumb and he doesn't watch it either he knows it makes me feel weird but does anyone else feel this way? and what are some different ways I can think about it cause I understand it's just a movie. How can I tone it down? I feel uncomfortable and get very mad when my BF watches movies like american pie cause all the girl nudity..?I feel the same way. A victoria secret commerical can come on the telly and my boyfriend turns his head. He knows I don't want him to watch movies like that, and he agrees and says he doesn't want to watch them either. Just like he would rather me not watch movies that have naked guys in them. I don't think it's weird. just a matter of preference. Some girls are okay with their guys watching that...some girls aren't. Personally, I'm not. And that's okay because he doesn't want to watch it.I feel uncomfortable and get very mad when my BF watches movies like american pie cause all the girl nudity..?
Thanks for your answer to my question. It was very helpful. I thought i'd repay you ^__^ Firstly, you are not alone! I am exactly the same with this sorta thing. I was watching that movie Hostel with my bf ages ago, and let me say.. Half the movie was nudity (personally I got it thinking it was going to just be blood and guts the whole way through, so I wouldn't have to worry about no nudity, but I was wrong -.-) Anyways, I noticed my guy was "enjoying" it... AND I WAS LAYING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM! He wasn't even saying anything, he was so quiet and so fixated onto the TV! I felt so mad and angry, I just wanted to walk out of the room and not speak to him for the rest of the night. I too, relise that these are only movies, but it's the actual concept of what's happening, be real or not. So I don't know, try and do what I try to do next time... If we're laying down, I usually just close my eyes and not watch - pretending i'm asleep. It does work for abit, cuz you're not watching it, so you don't know what's happening. Other than that, I guess it's something we just gotta deal with, we can't win %26gt;___%26lt;I feel uncomfortable and get very mad when my BF watches movies like american pie cause all the girl nudity..?i know how you feel, i'm the same way with my boyfriend, i don't even like for him to watch shows with any kind of nudity in them, i know its weird, i just try not to think about it and watch the movies to, just think about how much he loves you, and if it does bother you just try to ignore it, thats what i do. Good luck :)
It is normal with guys to want to watch sexy women, naked or not. It is in their nature. For as long as he is not addicted to it or spends more time watching it than spending time with you, i guess you just let him be. Anyway, it is just a movie and he is just enjoying the view.I feel uncomfortable and get very mad when my BF watches movies like american pie cause all the girl nudity..?Guys are very visual. It's just how they are. When I was still dating my ex, he told me how he loves to watch those women's beach volleyball players in the olympics.
I got a bit mad, but then I realized that shoot, he's 15. Is he going to hop on a plane to Beijing and get their numbers? No. Same with your boyfriend. What matters is that he's not saying things like "She's way hotter than you." That would be really mean. I doubt he's comparing you to them in any way though. LIke I said, it's a guy thing.I feel uncomfortable and get very mad when my BF watches movies like american pie cause all the girl nudity..?
i feel the exact same way with my bf.
i don't want him seeing any other girls naked or even in a bikini.
just think about the fact that they are on tv and he will more than likely never meet them.
and the fact that he is with you doesn't hurt to think about either.
=]
i was with my boyfriend the other night and at Womenizer video with Britney Spears came on and there were parts were she was like sorta nudie! and im like WTF! cuz im not the skinnyiest girl but i thought to myself.... he would never have a chance with britney SPEARS! she is CRAZYYYY!!! hahah then i looked at him and laughed!
i do get upset wen he see stuff like that... but i have learned how to deal with it.... thats how guys are.... =DI feel uncomfortable and get very mad when my BF watches movies like american pie cause all the girl nudity..?
i think youre a bit inseure. but everyone is sometimes.
nothings gonna happen if he watches it. ur being a bit paranoid. so take a deep breath and let him do his thingg.
he osnt gonna drop you after seeing a movie :)
i think ur getting jellous at something that doesnt really matter. its a movie that is just for entertainment. in the end who are they dating, you or the tv?
I use to get that way w/ my bf. I told him he can't watch that stuff around me and he doesn't. Maybe you should try that. Good luck.

Three ways in which the movies have misrepresented the 19th century American West?
There are so many ways in which Hollywood distorts history, since their primary aim is to make money, not represent historical fact. You asked for three:
"Forts" rarely had a wall, gateway and towers. Fort Davis (Texas), Fort Miles, Fort Wallace, Fort Hayes (Kansas), Fort Lincoln (Dakota), Fort Bowie (Arizona) are all typical examples, consisting merely of a cluster of buildings without any defensive walls or towers or gates. The buildings would be of local materials - logs, sods of earth, mud brick or adobe. Conditions, food, medical care and training were extremely poor; sickness and desertion rates were correspondingly very high.
Native Americans were much more savage than Hollywood depicts - at least towards anyone considered to be an enemy (including other native tribes). White women and girls were captured, brutally beaten, repeatedly raped and treated as slaves, being traded from one group to another and worked almost to death. Captured babies would be abandoned, shot or beaten to death, since another useless mouth to feed was considered unnecessary. Wounded and dead enemies would be mutilated in horrific ways to prevent the soul enjoying a good time in the afterlife.
Revolvers and pistols of all kinds were almost useless in a fight. A well-documented report by a Texas Ranger stated that he would rather face any white man armed with a pistol than a Comanche armed with bow and arrows - the bow could be discharged far more rapidly than a six-shooter and with considerably better aim. Bullet wounds were rarely fatal unless they hit a vital organ, while arrow wounds festered and the victim would die from blood poisoning (even after a minor wound, taking sometimes weeks to die).Three ways in which the movies have misrepresented the 19th century American West?A ). By portraying the natives as always in the wrong.
B ). By showing everyone always shooting into the air all the time, in that bullets was costing around 2 bucks back then and the average wage ( if you could find a job was about 3 bucks a month ).
C ). B showing the " good guy " always wins and justice would win in the end.
D ). Shootouts at high noon.
E ). Ok Corral gunfight, which was believed to actually be more like whole scale manslaughter by most historians.Three ways in which the movies have misrepresented the 19th century American West?
Here are my three:
1. the gunplay: the powder used would leave the air full of smoke after a few shots;
the pistols were long and heavy, making a cop-like two handed grip a better option;
the idea of a man outdrawing one who had already gone for his gun is a myth;
the guns needed to be heavily oiled for Western conditions, so if the winner wanted to get into a clinch with the heroine he'd have to wash his hands first, BUT
2. the women certainly didn't look like film stars. Take a look at some old photos. They look like what they were - tough as old boots.
3. the idea of outlaws terrorising a town. It never happened. Westerners had all chosen to be there and were self-reliant almost to a man. Northfileld and Coffeyville show what happened when the outlaws tried it.Three ways in which the movies have misrepresented the 19th century American West?Native American being savages
General George Custer being a hero
all cowboys were like John WayneThree ways in which the movies have misrepresented the 19th century American West?
Where do you want to start? Rifles and Pistols that were extremley uncommon and expensive, clothing and makeup that never existed at that time, language, music and writing that have no meaning to the 19th century average person, native Indians doing things that they would never do, incorrect Loco's and rolling stock, stereotypical ideals of Wetern towns which would never survive outside of a few small locations, incorrect dress of the Military arm and general incompetance of the officers.
I could go onThree ways in which the movies have misrepresented the 19th century American West? The GUNFIGHT AT THE O.K.CORRAL... only lasted a few SECONDS in real life ,,but in the films it gos on and on for at least half an hour LOL!
.
Hiding behind thin wooden fences in gunfights .where as in reality the bullet wood go straight thru and kill you
most inhabitants never carried guns
In the 'old West' one out of every three cowboys were African, Indian, or Mexican.

In American teen movies you always get the gang of three blonds who?
are better than the rest as they are the in crowd. and they date the captain of the college football team.
Are you in that gang and what do you think of the rest of the wannabe crowd who aren't?In American teen movies you always get the gang of three blonds who?nope it wasn't that way in our school, actually our whole football team was a bunch of pot heads, who dated un popular girls lol 4 real I come from a small school! In American teen movies you always get the gang of three blonds who?
That's Hollywood, I don't like itIn American teen movies you always get the gang of three blonds who?you know,it's not really always like that.
yeah there are preps and jocks mixed with cheerleaders but don't believe everything on the big screen
yes your so right! I really dont care for those movies..im probably the only person on the planet who still hasnt seen american pie...oh and probably those kids from feed the children too.In American teen movies you always get the gang of three blonds who?it's annoying, and typical. **** america. In American teen movies you always get the gang of three blonds who?
i am a red head..and how come they only make the red heads the girls best friend or the girl from down the street i wanna see her be the main character, the in crowd.
No, I'm not part of that gang and never have been. I prefer the company of "real" people not just those that are super attractive and only think about their appearance. In American teen movies you always get the gang of three blonds who?
Yeah it's a common stereotype that supports false ideas about what is "shallow" and what kind of person you should really try to be. In my experience the captain of the football team and the hot blond girl in high school were the people that got straight A's and were in ever extracurricular activity and were really nice to everyone. In reality it would be ideal if you could be them.
Typical Americal Teen Movie...
Doesnt Happen In the Real World :D
That pretty much described my second high school. No, I was not in that gang. Thank God.
I am me....~
not a wannna be
not in highshool anymore...yay me!
i am NOT in that gang and the wannabe crowd needs a life i dont envy those blonds they're not smart like me

Thank God.
I am me....~
not a wannna be
not in highshool anymore...yay me!
i am NOT in that gang and the wannabe crowd needs a life i dont envy those blonds they're not smart like me
Parties like in American pie movies?
Are the parties shown in teen movies like American pie true? I mean do they really happen?
Like 75-100 guys drinking like hell at a place?Parties like in American pie movies?Pretty much No. That's only in the movies. (at least not before College, then maybe)Parties like in American pie movies? Not really commonsuperchips multiplication table printable

Whats the deal with this recent influx of movies involving African American men portraying women?
I think its kinda creepy. They usually portray these obese motherly type characters. Sigmund Freud would have a field day.Whats the deal with this recent influx of movies involving African American men portraying women?Whoa, i was just thinking about that a few days ago! I mean what really is the deal?...but since i am here to answer your question...i think its a repetitious humor. They just ran out of movies to produce, so they go for what is "funny"...I guess because the image of a warped, obese African American woman is humorous...i see it as repetitious. ^.^

American movies in Europe?
Do they play American movies in Europe? Specifically the Italy-Greece area?American movies in Europe?all the european countries play american movies, the ones with a high population dub the movies, the ones with small populations (the nederlands, sweden, etc) usually don't dub them and use subtitles instead.
i know that italy usually dubs the movies but a greek friend told me that movies are subtitled in greece, since it only has like 11 million inhabitants.
larger cities have english cinemas and theathers, they play the latest movies, but in english (at least in germany)
hope i helped you a little :)American movies in Europe?
I am from Italy, I would say they play nearly 99% of all the American movies and TV series. Movies are even released in theaters on the same day they are released in the US... Everything that is spoken in English is dubbed in Italian.
They even showed Tila Tequila and Jersey Shores, these dubbed in Italian as well (go figure...)
Remember, the US thrives on the entertainment business, it's one of the nation's most remunerative source of income. The US works very hard on exporting the most of their music and shows abroad.American movies in Europe? There are movies from other countries including the Americas shown here in Italy. However, it's not so easy to find movies in the original language; they will be mostly dubbed in Italian. Some of the larger cities will have movies in English, but not all theaters that do this have them every night. There's a theater in Modena that used to have movies in the original language on Wednesdays only.
You can use sites like:

What's the name of the American actor who acted in both hollywood and porn movies?
He's quite famous but I can't find a clue to help me google him.
He's got longer curly hair, dark and sort of fat. Slightly big nose too.
I think he started with porn or did that at the same time as secondary hollywood movies.
Help, it's bugging meWhat's the name of the American actor who acted in both hollywood and porn movies?Ron Jeremy. He was on the surreal life too? I think this is who you are thinking of.

About american movies?
most american movies seem to portray everyone as rich live in huge houses ,driving expensive cars and every woman seems to be a super model, yet australian and british show the real world. i know most amerians dont live like the movies in fact they have more poverty than australia and britain so why do they try and tell us differentAbout american movies? The americans have two countries: 1 where they live, 2 where they think they live.
The americans have two ways to be: 1 what they are, 2 What they think they are.About american movies?
you are a jackass!
are there rich models in Australia and Britain? sometimes being rich is real.
but I just saw the movie "click" and the characters didn't live in a huge house nor did they drive an expensive car. the wife also was not a super model. the other movie i saw recently, "running with scissors" also did not have those things in it.
Which American movies did u see? Maybe the houses in America are different than the houses in those other countries? They seem huge to you but are normal to the rest of us?About american movies?because we americans are dreamers!! we aren't trying to tell you different, its a frigging movie. if i want sad depressing CRAP, i'll watch the local news and if i want to watch even more depresssing crap, i'll watch your newsAbout american movies?
Sounds like you haven't seen a very broad range of American movies, many of them do not portray the stereotype you are describing.
Several current or recent examples in a variety of genres: Freedom Writers, Alpha Dog, Brokeback Mountain, Friday Night Lights.
Maybe it isn't that most american movies portray that, but rather that most the american movies that are shown where you live show that. Not all american movies are opened internationally. You are only seeing the big budget ones, the ones that they think will appeal to an international audience.About american movies?
stop watching the blockbuster movies. i have seen many many americans movies which show the seedier side of life, as well as aussie and british ones.
Expand your movie selections. Not all American movies portray everyone as rich and beautiful.
it's the movies
probably so Americans can escape!
They are in the business of fantasy.
Reality is all around us to see. When we need a break we want to be transported into another world different from our reality hence we go to the moviesI would not pay good money to see overweight people leading dreary lives very similar to my own. We want to live for those 90 mts a dream life hence the huge houses and perfectly sculpted bodies.
I'm sure films like "Juice" and "New Jack City" would beg to differ
it is hollywood!!!
make believe!!!
just like conan lol!!!
There is so much negative in real life why not have a ideal life on tv or the movies.

About american movies?Because they are out of touch with their audiences, also I guess it gives us something to strive for, I have to say I prefer movies that are like real life, the knitty gritty because you can relate to those better..good question:)are there rich models in Australia and Britain? sometimes being rich is real.

Which movies are better ? American or Hindi( indian)?
for me its indian cuz even though i luv some American movies i just think that they are way over top and fake. I like Indian movies cuz they are realistic. And also I am amazed by the fact that they have been trying the same formula for more than 50 yrs for every single movie, and it is still working PERFECTLY to this day.Which movies are better ? American or Hindi( indian)?I watch both but watch American more than Hindi.
American movies experience with many new subjects and themes that Hindi movies never did or dared to do. Although they are doing some nowadays.
My problems with Hindi movies are that they are lengthy and over dramatic. Realistic? Very few of them. Today most of the movies have unnecessary dancing with hot actresses with no connection with the story. But Hindi movies do have emotion and sensuality. My favourite Hindi movies are "Dil Chahta Hai", "Hum Tum", "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and "Kaho Naa Pyar Hai". They are colourful, refreshing and different to me.
American movies are stronger than Hindi movies in storyline and variety. They are just big. But many many American movies are just cheap and meaningless too. I'm a big fan of their animation movies. Sometimes they have the emotions that a real movie with real persons don't have. The list of my favourite American movie is so long, I wouldn't mention it here.
The thing is good movies are good movies, that doesn't really depend on whether it is American or Hindi. People shouldn't have negative view on movies from any particular country or language. Watching good movies is great fun, isn't it?Which movies are better ? American or Hindi( indian)?
i think both are good.Hindi films have their own characteristics and also for American movie .But in the case of songs and music Hindi film is first .In technology American film is good
What about Indian movies...
Typical Indian movie scene: A guy gets shot in the chest 3-5 times, then spend almost 45 minutes of the movie walking.... And manages to actually squeeze in a song whilst dying....
Typical Indian movie scene2: A guy gets shot 45 times using a machine gun, then whilst the evil guy runs away, the shot man gets up, manages to steal a gun, shoot the evil guy, then die again....
So... YES i do think American movies are better...Which movies are better ? American or Hindi( indian)?
I prefer hindi movies because they seel even minus the loud in your face sex and violence. Infact it's like a Bollywood rule-no sex scenes. They have the best storylines and because they're more emotional and gentle in how they are filmed and written, I find them alot more moving. I get that "feel good" thing after them, whereas after a Hollywood movie...I feel like I've just been brainwashed. Hinai movies allll the way!Which movies are better ? American or Hindi( indian)?well each country has its own good and bad movies, indian movies as wellas american has good and bad movies.films like umaroa jhaan, titanic are examples of good movies in both languages.it is a personal decision that he/she like indian or english.it is obivious that people say thier liking is good.so no point in saying that indian movie is good or viceversa.Which movies are better ? American or Hindi( indian)?
(a) no, they have not been trying "the same formula for more then 50yrs" ....i agree to the fact that the old ones were a bit 'constant'
(b) since you seem to be a regular viewer, you have to admit the new ones are really 'new', fresh and good (else, you wouldn't be liking them as much as you do :P)
(c) personally, Indian movies all the way! They have awesome music, good plots and are overall, excellent movies.
(d) i agree with you when it comes to the American movies ^_^
dude, are you out of your mind, American movies are so much better and cooler and diverse, but Indian movies always present the same idea and they are so typical, Indian movies always talk about: love, death, good guys, and bad guys, and hero's that save their girlfriend from the bad guy she doesn't marry, or a man that can't marry his Rich lover because her parents don't except him because he's poor and they are rich, always the same crabby and Lousy movies..........

American Pie 2 (2001) - which has everyone from American Pie. They all are about to/already in college now.
American Wedding- which doesn't have Oz and his girlfriend in it. How sad. But Stiffler's mom makes an appearance.
Then, they have spin offs like Band Camp with Matt Stiffler in it. When he is in high school. (2005), The Naked Mile (2206), and Beta House (2007) which I heard wasn't that good. What are some movies (if any) are on American History during the Gulded Age - The Progressive Era?
I'm taking a A.P. U.S. history course and enjoy watching movies to visually learn and re-enforce what I know. Could someone find some movies of big events that pertaining to America's happening, during these time periods? I really don't care if they're boring or dificult to understand. It would be a mighty help =)What are some movies (if any) are on American History during the Gulded Age - The Progressive Era?Though it's not a great movie, "Ragtime" (1981) is based on E.L. Doctorow's novel and set at the turn of the 20th Century.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082970/
"Posse" is a great action pic, in which some Spanish War veterans seek justice. Also set at the turn of the 20th Century.

Why aren't American movies profound like European movies?
why are American movies are so positive, so optimistic?.....Why do good men get good deeds in the end?..why are people reasonable?.......Why are American movies so dreamlike and unrealistic?....
Do any people here like cruel, realistic, unlogic European movies?.....like "dancer in the dark"?Why aren't American movies profound like European movies?Whoa Barbara. Blaming the Jews aint a sensible response to anything. Remember the Nazis anyone?.
Anyway, back to the question, most mainstream Hollywood fare is screen tested to death. Often they'll shoot multiple endings and go with the most popular one. Sometimes scripts are re-written to add a love interest, make them more optimistic etc. In short, commercial interests clash with artistic integrity which is why often Hollywood films are pap.
European films are more personal works of art. Often (although not always) art is based on suffering of some sort so it's understandable that they are more profound and "difficult" viewings.
There are exceptions though. A lot of European movies are more fun genre based affairs - eg Taxi, Brotherhood Of The Wolf, Crimson Rivers etc etc.
And a heck of a lot of American films are just as deep and meaningful as European films. A lot of them got made in the 70s when cinema attendance fell and some real gems slipped out through the studios - Think "The Converstaion", "Taxi Driver", "The Deer Hunter", "Apocalypse Now".
Also check out US Independent films which are usually more about making good films than making money (Of course I'm sure the film-makers are always happy when they get money but just don't feel the need to turn their films into long Coke or Nokia adverts) EG. "Pi", "Requiem For A Dream", "Jesus' Son", "Little Miss Sunshine", "Sex Lies and Videotape" etc etc.Why aren't American movies profound like European movies?I think it is a little thing called "shot, script, and film continuity". We Americans just can't seem to stay away from it. For some insane reason...we just keep adding it into our projects. When will we learn...Why aren't American movies profound like European movies?because american film companies were founded by jews who wanted to tell morality tales. if we were as pessimistic as europeans we would have already fallen to an enemy by now. every single movie of alien invasions i have seen from europeans have all ended in failure to fight or losing to them. probably a reflection of the passivity toward hitler during ww2. they're unwillingness to have a fighting force to protect themselves from danger.
Why do you think its profound to be pessimistic? Why aren't American movies profound like European movies?

Why doesn't TV and movies in China show teenagers smoke pot, do drugs like American TV and movies do?
is that the reason why so many teenagers do drugs and many continue doing it into their adult life? Why doesn't TV and movies in China show teenagers smoke pot, do drugs like American TV and movies do?Chinese movies reflect the culture and values of Chinese society. American movies reflect America. When a society is a failure, it is painful for the people of that society to look into a mirror. The graphic truth of social malaise is not glamorous, it is ugly, very ugly.
My favorite Chinese TV shows are the silly match-making ones. Guys and girls ask each other embarrassing questions, then act surprised when they get a sharp-witted answer. Typical question from a girl: "If your mother and girlfriend fell into a river, but you could only save one, who would you save?" The guy replies, "I will obviously save my mother, but I will give my girlfriend a good funeral."Why doesn't TV and movies in China show teenagers smoke pot, do drugs like American TV and movies do?
To answer this question. Coomercials, TV , movies are not allowed to advertised anything relating to drugs, it is illegal there. China is very strict on drugs, people commited with drug issues can carry a death penalty. China is doing it's best abilities to bring down the drug issues , it is a social problems to them in such a huge population.Like you say, most people do drugs there. Is the other way, most don't do drugs there. (Maybe tobacco are more popular )
Hope you have an idea. Thanks for asking. Why doesn't TV and movies in China show teenagers smoke pot, do drugs like American TV and movies do?"Chinese movies reflect the culture and values of Chinese society"
HA HA HA!
This literally made me laugh out loud. If this a true statement, then China should be the most violent country on earth. I have never seen more violence than I have on Chinese movies and television. Violence against women and children is quite common in Chinese shows as is domestic abuse (both genders), etc.
China has a dark history involving drugs. Remember the Opium War? While this was precipitated by British "outsiders," the Chinese government was not completely innocent in the situation either. The Opium Wars have a complicated history (http://www.sacu.org/opium2.html ) and one result is that there is no way that the Chinese government today will allow any type of "glorification" of drugs in modern media. Why doesn't TV and movies in China show teenagers smoke pot, do drugs like American TV and movies do?
China sensors its TV and movies. You are likely unlikely to see anything bad about Chinese life on TV or film. While USA TV has artistic creativity showing real life, Chinese stamps out the harsh realities of life in China.
The reality of it is that China is a major route and end user product for the drug trade of the golden crescent and golden triangle. These drug producing drug centres produce hard drugs like heroin, opium.
This Al Jazeera shows the problems China is facing with spiralling out of control hard drug addiction.

Sweet heart, don't get angy, you're right that 2 out 3 Taiwan's leaders are found corrupted. What about the Mainland though? Corruptions of all top leaders and their family members is NO secret. No conviction of top leaders in the Mainland does not mean no corruptions exist, it's just that every top leaders and their family members feel it's part of their "reward" package to take bribes. As well, convictions or not are decided upon by the top leaders themselves, no person is stupid enough to admit one's own crime.
That's why in the absence of ruling parties' competitions, bad cultures and behaviors in the Mainland will not be changed. Take care, I've to take rest it's now middle of night. I like your Traditional Chinese posts, See ya in "I Have A Dream...".Why doesn't TV and movies in China show teenagers smoke pot, do drugs like American TV and movies do?
Because American TV and movies are more subtle. China TV and movies often show violence and corruption, that might be the reason why so many police and government officials often beat citizens around.
Purhaps it doesn't appeal to the audiences. Who would watch that shite? When I was growing up, I prefered watching Full House, Macgyver or Step by Step over crackheads.

American movies famous in Europe?
Just curious, which American movies do people watch in Europe a lot? I know that a lot of movies that come out in America also come out in Europe, and are dubbed or have subtitles. I'm not sure why I want to know, just wondering......American movies famous in Europe?boxofficemojo.com is a good site to visit for this kind of information. For example, here is a list of the top-grossing movies in Germany for 2010:
http://boxofficemojo.com/intl/germany/ye鈥?/a>
and here's France for the same time:
http://boxofficemojo.com/intl/france/yea鈥?/a>
If you click around with the menus and options you can get similar info for other countries and other years, and for most countries you can even get it broken down by week instead of by year. (It's a little harder to use weekly comparisons because a movie that is in theaters right now in the USA might not hit a theater in another country yet--- so even if it goes on to be popular, you wouldn't see it by comparing the box office results for the same week. This is still an issue with yearly returns, but generally only for movies released near the end of the year, instead of for all movies.) IMDB has similar lists (click around "box office") but they tend to be broken down only into "US" and "non-US," which also includes the huge Asian market.
Some basic patterns: often, the most popular movies in America in a given year are among the most popular movies in Europe for that year. Individual countries often also have their own movies among their most popular movies (that most Americans likely have not heard of). Action/sci-fi movies, animated movies, children's movies, and movies based on internationally popular books (e.g. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings) tend to do better international business than dramas and adult comedies.
I think partly this is because many dramas require knowing extra stuff about the society in which they take place to understand the story. And humor that is highly verbal, or highly dependent on culturally specific references, may not translate at all. But I am just guessing about that.

Does anyone know any American movies with Japanese subtitles?
Please! If you know any movies that have subtitles in Japanese or have a Japanese language option with English subtitles, let me know!!Does anyone know any American movies with Japanese subtitles? The only two American movies I own that have Japanese subtitles are The China Syndrome and Tootsie. Tootsie is kind of a sweet movie, I think it's OK for a kid. China Syndrome is a little too deep. I believe Close Encounters of the Third Kind also has Japanese subtitles. (I'm basing this on my knowledge that all three movies have Thai subtitles, along with a number of other Asian languages, Japanese has to be among them.) You can double-check this by looking up the DVD's on amazon.com.Does anyone know any American movies with Japanese subtitles?Argh, I should know this. Morgan Freeman, Matthew Broderick.
Its about a black unit lead by Broderick (they didn't allow black officers). It's worth watching once.
These are a little more out there:
-The General (Buster Keaton), silent comedy set during and with battle action of the CW
-Gone With the Wind (Clarke Gable, Leslie Howard, Vivien Leigh), set in GA during the war
-Birth of a Nation (D.W. Griffith), silent masterpiece about the war/reconstruction--it does have a fair amount to do with the KKK and racism thoughAny good movies about the American Civil War?gone with the wind
