Why aren't American movies profound like European movies?

why are American movies are so positive, so optimistic?.....Why do good men get good deeds in the end?..why are people reasonable?.......Why are American movies so dreamlike and unrealistic?....

Do any people here like cruel, realistic, unlogic European movies?.....like "dancer in the dark"?Why aren't American movies profound like European movies?Whoa Barbara. Blaming the Jews aint a sensible response to anything. Remember the Nazis anyone?.

Anyway, back to the question, most mainstream Hollywood fare is screen tested to death. Often they'll shoot multiple endings and go with the most popular one. Sometimes scripts are re-written to add a love interest, make them more optimistic etc. In short, commercial interests clash with artistic integrity which is why often Hollywood films are pap.

European films are more personal works of art. Often (although not always) art is based on suffering of some sort so it's understandable that they are more profound and "difficult" viewings.

There are exceptions though. A lot of European movies are more fun genre based affairs - eg Taxi, Brotherhood Of The Wolf, Crimson Rivers etc etc.

And a heck of a lot of American films are just as deep and meaningful as European films. A lot of them got made in the 70s when cinema attendance fell and some real gems slipped out through the studios - Think "The Converstaion", "Taxi Driver", "The Deer Hunter", "Apocalypse Now".

Also check out US Independent films which are usually more about making good films than making money (Of course I'm sure the film-makers are always happy when they get money but just don't feel the need to turn their films into long Coke or Nokia adverts) EG. "Pi", "Requiem For A Dream", "Jesus' Son", "Little Miss Sunshine", "Sex Lies and Videotape" etc etc.Why aren't American movies profound like European movies?I think it is a little thing called "shot, script, and film continuity". We Americans just can't seem to stay away from it. For some insane reason...we just keep adding it into our projects. When will we learn...Why aren't American movies profound like European movies?because american film companies were founded by jews who wanted to tell morality tales. if we were as pessimistic as europeans we would have already fallen to an enemy by now. every single movie of alien invasions i have seen from europeans have all ended in failure to fight or losing to them. probably a reflection of the passivity toward hitler during ww2. they're unwillingness to have a fighting force to protect themselves from danger.

Why do you think its profound to be pessimistic? Why aren't American movies profound like European movies?
Try independant movies!
