British movies about American Revolutionary War?

I'm looking for British movies about the American Revolutionary War / American War of Independence. I am not picky with the style of movie...major motion picture, documentary, made for tv movie, etc. I'm just looking for the British perspective of the war. Thanks!British movies about American Revolutionary War?There is only one major motion picture that was produced and directed by a British company - Goldcrest films who also did the multi Oscar winning "Chariots of Fire" - and this is "Revolution" (sometimes known as "Revolution 1776").

It was released in 1985, starring Al Pacino, Donald Sutherland, Natassja Kinski and Joan Plowright. Unfortunately, due to the way the approach the film took in the original cut, showing the unpleasant elements to both sides and going for a more accurate approach rather than the propaganda, the distributors, Warner Bros, refused to release it in the US unless it was reshot and edited to conform with the standard conception of the Revolutionary War in America; in other words the stuff that Sam Adams spouted and had added to the history books.

Consequently the movie is a butchered, badly connected, historically poor version of the original conception, with the Colonials as stand up guys while the British are thuggish or effette Nazis. Needless to say the movie bombed. It practically sank Goldcrest, put Pacino's career on hiatus for four years and earned itself a number of Razzies for extremely bad movies.

All in all probably not the best to watch, but there are a number of BBC programmes that deal with British history (such as Simon Schama's "A History of Britain" or anything hosted by Prof. Richard Holmes) in which the American Revolutionary War will be covered - albeit breifly, as in the grand scheme of British history it is really a minor part.British movies about American Revolutionary War?
I really do not recall having ever seen a British movie dealing with that subject. I don't think we enjoy dwelling on the defeats we have suffered. That subject has largely been left to the Americans, which is why you have so many misconceptions about the whole thing. The Boston Tea Party, and the Boston Massacre, and Thanksgiving Day and stuff. The reality is vastly different to the present day conception of those events.British movies about American Revolutionary War?I do not think there is one, to be quite honest with you , no one in Britain gives a damn about the American war of Independence . We in this country have moved on since then and people here show little or no interest in the subject Most British probably could not give you dates , just as Thanks Giving Day ,we do not in the main know or care

Edit No one is interested , it seems as the only ones who cannot move on is the Americans. Honestly it`s no big deal in this country . Why can`t you understand thatBritish movies about American Revolutionary War?
Obviously since they believe we have misconceptions on it they have their opinion on what really happen during the war. I think it would be very interesting to hear their side of it. I am willing to hear the "facts" if they think they have them.British movies about American Revolutionary War?Bernard Shaw's play "The Devil's Disciple" could give you something like a British perspective about the event. Later, the Hollywood followed the play and produced a movie with the same nameBritish movies about American Revolutionary War?
As you can see from previous emails, it is still a touchy subject to the Brits.
