Today the US has moved on! Black Americans finally standing up in the 60's and fighting for the rightful place in American society.
We all remember those times (Im 70) a British Foreign National who also served in Vietnam!
Saw it for myself when in the US. Standing there, unbelieving at what I was witnessing, not knowing such partition existed in the US.
In Vietnam I dealt with American black soldiers. Always appalled as all serving foreign nationals were at their treatment. Met a lot of brave men and witnessed some extremely gallant actions. There saving the lives of fellow white Americans!
First Movie that comes to mind depicting Black Americans is Glory. You'll have to excuse me if I've got it wrong (As I can't recall if its Old Glory) My age and all that
Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman (a young Denzel Washington) %26amp; a host of truly great young American Black actors who at the time were relatively unknown!
Beside the movies also mention by others theres been countless others.

First of all the military was still segregated in WWII.
Most Black soldiers were not permitted to fight. They were only permitted to be cooks, janitors, etc.
Later in the war, some all-Black units were put in combat, and won many honors for their courage and their accomplishments.
President Truman integrated the military in 1948.

Add the 2001 film "Pearl Harbor" to your list, which accurately shows the valor of Navy cook Dorie Miller (played by Cuba Gooding, Jr.) who was awarded the Navy Cross for his actions during the Pearl Harbor attack.
