Is American highschool Cheerleading accurately portrayed in movies and TV shows?

I live in Quebec, and place where highschools don't even have football teams, let alone cheerleaders, so the concept of cheerleading is somewhat foreign to me.



I've seen cheerleaders frequently portrayed in American media, and it seems to me that it's very unrealistic, and real cheerleaders couldn't possibly be so competitive, and rude with eachother.Is American highschool Cheerleading accurately portrayed in movies and TV shows?yes and no. There is still a ********* involved, but they are all shapes and sizes. They don't typically hang out together, they get along but not like in the movies. and of course they don't scout out other high schools and steal cheers. Sadly the way they are portrayed in movies, they are all angry and jealous and slutty. cheeleaders are definately not what they are in movies. i am a cheerleader i would know. yes there can be drama,, but not like there is in the movies,,, it isdefinately different in reality, like the movie bring it on, it is totally inaccurate and false. real cheerleaders are there for cheering and arent that competitive at all.:DIs American highschool Cheerleading accurately portrayed in movies and TV shows?cheerleading is definately not like it is in the movies. the cheerleading squads i've seen mostly just clap and yell. often the cheerleaders aren't in shape. the only time they can do flips and stuff is if they're lucky enough to have a gymnast join the squad. however, i have heard that it is a bigger deal in Texas (where high school football is also huge), so that could be a different story
Okay so I'm a freshmen in a USA high school. Here's what i noticed about the cheerleaders at our school:



for the most part these girl are stuck up and brainless. they do sort of exaggerate it in movies but sometimes cheerleaders can be really competitive.Is American highschool Cheerleading accurately portrayed in movies and TV shows?Most of the cheerleaders in my school were beat. And they weren't all blonde with no waist and big ****. They were brunette and blonde and skinny, fat, and average. Some were bitches and some weren't. The majority of cheerleaders are not as they are portrayed in movies and TV shows.



However, there are a small number that do behave as the portrayals depict. Since movies need a storyline, they go with the conflict.
In a way it's over exaggerated but in others its not.

You have to be competitive to be a cheerleader, but not all cheerleaders are conceited bitches. Though, allot of them are.Is American highschool Cheerleading accurately portrayed in movies and TV shows?
Yeah, Hollywood portrays cheerleaders in an unrealistic way. The truth is that they're usually pretty slutty, but anything beyond that depends on the school.
It's nothing like TV, you're right. Everyone is normal and nice, though cheerleaders do tend to be the really airhead girls, but not always.
