What are your favourite movies about the American Dream?If you get a chance, go see "Cinema Verite". It's a docudrama about a real documentary that was made about a typical American Family, the Louds, in the 70's. Besides having a super cast playing the family members and the doumentarians, it's a real eye-opener about exactly what a real American family looks like on the inside. The documentary its based on, "An American Family", was on as a weekly series and the highest rated documentary ever at the time. It stars Diane Lane, Tim Robbins, James Gandolfini and many other notables and is up for multiple Emmy's this year.
I'm cliche but Godfather 2 at the top of my head. Really interesting to see Vito's journey in America. The Ellis island scene when he was a kid was especially poignant.
