Why did American Pie have 4 straight to DVD movies and no original cast?

The first 3 films (american Pie,American Pie2,and american wedding all had the Original cast and all went to theaters . but since the last one in 2003 they have made 4 movies without that original cast and none went to theaters, so i am wondering why wasn't the original cast in those movies and why did they go straight to dvdWhy did American Pie have 4 straight to DVD movies and no original cast?they do that a lot. its a quick way to make some fast cash. hire a bunch of unknowns and pay em nothing. low budget, also a lot of times the original characters have made it big, and want to do different projectsWhy did American Pie have 4 straight to DVD movies and no original cast?There is not an American Pie 4 that has been released yet. Band Camp, The Naked Mile, Beta House, and The Book of Love are all spin off movies. they are made in lower quality with a lower budget. The reason they are labeled American Pie Presents, is because it is made by the same film company. Similar to all of the National Lampoon and Broken Lizard movies that have been released recently.



However there is an American Pie 4 being made with most of the original cast returning. The script is being written and they have said it will likely be released in 2012Why did American Pie have 4 straight to DVD movies and no original cast?Probably because the original cast was getting too old to be in movies like that, plus they probably realized they wouldn't make a lot of money off of the movies if they were in them. They went straight to dvd because often times after the second or third movie, the rest bomb at the box office whereas people will rent/buy them for some reason.Why did American Pie have 4 straight to DVD movies and no original cast?
