Why are most awards at Movie and Music Award ceremonies only given out to Americans movies and music?

Surely there are tonnes of foreign films that are better than American films in a year yet they only give out one award for "best foreign film". Is it like they make it seem that foreign films can't compete with these "awesome" hollywood movies? So they only give one out to the BEST foreign movie? Who judges what are the best films/music? How does it work? Foreign films are great, they are mostly original and unique compared to Hollywood films, why can't they get credit too?Why are most awards at Movie and Music Award ceremonies only given out to Americans movies and music?Other countries have their own movie and music awards. And there are quite a number of international film festivals, where movies from all over the world compete and stand a chance to win awards.
